The Brits love to talk - and they love to tell stories. They will tell you a story at the drop of a hat. And if they don't have a hat, they will tell you a story about why!
Why are they like this? I believe they have a stellar "positive" attitude! They have survived a lot...and they want to tell you about it.
As I travel throughout England, I hear several phrases over and over: Cheers! - No worries! - Lovely! Every encounter with another person is a positive one (mostly).
Storytellers can take a tip from this. You need a positive attitude in order to craft and tell well. Negative or angry approaches will set you in the wrong direction. Even when crafting a dark story or one with angry characters, one must approach it with a positive attitude. This is the only way one can openly explore all aspects and emotions.
And when telling, one must start with a positive attitude, toward yourself, the story, and the audience. The audience can sense, immediately if the teller is in a funk or a bad mood. A teller who doesn't like the story they are telling communicates that to the audience in an instant.
So when you craft, prepare or tell a story, just think... "lovely"..."no worries..."cheers!"
