The year is already off to a great start, with storytelling in the Valley of the Sun (although I am not sure we can call it that with temperatues in the 30s & 40s!) There are over sixteen events in January alone! This bodes well for the impending year.
Last night's "First Responders" concert at Community Christian Church highlighted police, EMTs, CPS workers and emergency helpers in Haiti. All the stories reminded us of the importance of these folks, and the great service they provide to those in need. Doug Bland keeps topping himself with new and intersting themes. Upcoming concerts are "Wardrobe Malfuntions", "The Holy Fool" and "Going Native". Don't miss these wonderful concerts at a great venue!
Long-time local tellers are back in the swing with Joyce Story performing her original tales of the desert, and Sean Buvala presenting advanced coaching workshops, and the new Small-Biz Story Slam.
Classes start this week at South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute. There is still time to register for some classes. And next month, the instutue is presenting Connie Regan-Blake, who has been telling professionally for over 40 years.
